The Robert Bateman Centre (RBC) is committed to your privacy. We are guided by the Personal Information Protection and Electronic Documents Act(PIPEDA). No personal information will be collected unless you choose to offer it voluntarily.  Our policy is to protect and respect this information to the best of our ability, no sharing of information will occur unless required by law.  We want you to feel confident and be safe when you visit our site.

What information do we collect?

The RBC respects the privacy and personal information of visitors and does not collect information unless you choose to register with www.BatemanCentre.org.  To experience the site you do not need to register; however, to set up a profile you will need to provide a valid email address. You may at that time select to receive an e-newsletter.  You can choose to remove yourself from our e-newsletter at any time.  Additionally, we may use your email to provide you with a reset to your password if you forget it.

We may use your email address to respond to any questions or requests that you might have. The email address is not made public and will only be used if you wish to receive a new password or if you wish to receive certain news or notifications by email. 

Information on the site

If you choose to place information in your profile on the site; such as pictures, written profiles, personal website addresses, written stories, or information about your nature inspired art experiences, you can at any time choose to reveal it or remove it.  An example could be writing a personal experience about a painting that you might have and sharing it with other site visitors who also have been inspired by that artwork.  For any stories that are publically posted, we do monitor and check for appropriateness and may remove it should the posting be offensive, rude or defamatory. 

You can choose to delete your profile and/or content at any time if you want to.

Cookies

Our website may pass small pieces of information to your browser called cookies.  This is not personal information; however it makes a return visit to our site simpler and easier for you to recall your preferences.  If you do not want your browser to accept cookies, you can set it to refuse them and a warning may appear when you visit the site.  This may slow down your visit to the site and you may experience difficulties or not be able to access certain features of the site.

Links

We may link to external sites from the RBC site.  Although we will strive for connections to positive, credible and high integrity sites in our links, this Privacy Policy is for the purposes of the RBC’s site.  Once a visitor leaves the RBC’s site, they will be covered by separate guidelines.  Other sites might connect to the RBC site without our consent, and we cannot be responsible for either their content or their privacy policies.

Security

The RBC will work to keeping your information as secure as possible, however, no information sent on the internet can be guaranteed 100% secure.  Therefore, visitors are asked to be mindful that the RBC cannot guarantee security of transmissions to and from it.

By using the site you agree to the terms of the Privacy Policy.  The RBC may change and update the Privacy Policy at any time, please check back and review.  The continued use of the site after the posting of any changes means that you agree to the updates.
